About Me
Currently I am a student at the University of Utah in the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department. I have chosen my emphasis to be in the community recreation area. I have chosen this emphasis for many reasons. First of all, I feel that any one can enjoy recreation and for many people their first exposure to recreation is in a community. Recreation in a community can also bring a community together with the help of community recreation centers, public parks, and community events. I would love to work with any one of these areas or in a nonprofit or charity organization that is dedicated to enriching peoples lives and improving their health through recreation.
To help prepare myself to work in this area of recreation I have taken on several volunteer and employment opportunities that work with my local community. I have volunteered for 10 years with different communities. Some of the organizations that I have volunteer with include The American Lung Association where I have helped raise money for research into diseases like asthma, a lung disease that I currently struggle with. I have also worked with different recreation programs to grow a wide knowledge of the community recreation environment. To see my work in these areas visit my experience/ resume page of my portfolio.
