The Recreation and Parks Association (RAPS)
For the 2015-2016 school year I served as one of the four board members for the Recreation and Parks Society. The University of Utah Recreation and Parks Society, or RAPS, is a student club specifically for the Parks, Recreation, and Tourism department. RAPS brings together the students from the different PRT emphasis areas by way of events that are fun as well as social.
I was asked to be a board member during the spring 2015 semester. Along with my fellow RAPS board member, vice president and president, we plan the events thought the year. These events are social events or events to better the university of community. In addition to planning the events, the board members keep track of the budget, current members, and merchandise such as T-shirts and club stickers.

National Recreation and Parks Association
I joined NRPA in the fall 2015 I was asked to represent the University of Utah in the NRPA university quiz bowl at the NRPA annual conference in Las Vegas Nevada. During my experience at the conference I was able to meet many people in the recreation field from around the country. I am thankful to be part of a national organization that brings together recreation professionals from around the United States.
Utah Recreation and Parks Association
During the spring of 2015 I attended the URPA annual conference in Provo Utah where I had the chance to be a student presenter. Along with three other students, I gave a presentation of a recreational topic that was important to me. My presentation was on the importance of adult figure skating and how this particular sport can be a helpful tool in working through challenges that older adults face. I enjoyed this conference as well as other events that URPA has put on and I plan to continue to be involved with URPA and their events.
