Standard 7.01: Students will demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and application of the Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
So far, my schooling these last couple of semesters has taught me so much about Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. I have come to understand that this major is not only about working within the recreation field but it is about helping people become more healthy and fully enjoy their lives. Through recreational activities, preferably in Utah, people can improve their health in a fun way by staying active while doing something they love.
Standard 7.02: Students demonstrate their ability to design, implement and evaluate a program with agencies in the Salt Lake Valley.
I Have had the opportunity to plan an event that worked closely with the Salt Lake City Food Bank and the Taylorsville Recreation Center. This event was a dodge ball tournaments that a group of students planned for the community during my first year in the PRT departments. This experience taught me now to better work with local organization and how to properly design a program that will be fun and exciting for those involved.
